This project is called "Express Yourself: The Personal is Political," and was meant to focus on one socio-political field that I was interested in affecting. By expressing personal feelings and opinions about the subject matter, a strong stance can be taken.
When choosing a topic, I ended up choosing alcoholism as a broad topic and more specifically the problems with the stigmas surrounding it. The main thesis of this illustration and concept is that alcoholism is hidden instead of treated because of the stigmas surrounding it.
This concept was developed by having the piece be an exploration for the viewer and having them search for clues. Kind of like a "Where’s Waldo" style, the viewer slowly starts to realize the bottles hidden throughout the piece and hopefully tries to see how many they can find even though they might not want to because of the meaning behind of the bottles.
